FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Where do your sessions take place?
A: Sessions take place at my in-home natural light studio (photos here) in Southwest Austin (about 15-20 minutes from downtown Austin), but occasionally I'll hold a session in your home or a boutique hotel or bed & breakfast. I'd be happy to discuss each option with you, and we can decide which location best fits your needs, budget, and vision. There is a beautiful full bathroom attached to the studio for changing, etc.
Q: Do you provide wardrobe?
A: You will provide most of your own outfits, but we offer a small studio wardrobe of gorgeous lace pieces for maternity sessions and some regular sessions. Please inquire for photos of our current wardrobe offerings.
Q: Will my photos be kept private?
A: Your name and all your photos will be kept completely private and off my site and social media unless you give me express written permission to share them. However, I do ask all my boudoir clients to consider allowing me to share a few of their images, even if only the ones that don't reveal identity. I wouldn't have an updated portfolio or a strong enough online presence to attract new clients if it weren't for the incredibly generous ladies who allow me to share a few images!
Q: Are the digital files of my photos included with your sessions?
A: All digital files and fine art products are sold a la carte at your Photo Reveal Session. Contact me here for a full Pricing Guide!
Q: Can I skip the Photo Reveal Session and just view my images online?
A: In some rare cases I will make an exception and allow this (like if you're coming from out of state), but for the most part, your Photo Reveal Session is required and included in your purchase. This is an opportunity for me to answer your questions, give professional guidance and ideas on how to best display and enjoy your photos, and it's also an opportunity for you to see and feel all of the JNB product offerings, which is SO important. At your Photo Reveal/Ordering Session, we can also design your album together should you decide to purchase one, which saves SO much time and headache going back and forth over designs and orders via email. Win-win!
Q: Will anyone else be with us while we're shooting?
A: Nope, just you and me! It's rare, but on occasion I will have another female in a different part of my home watching my toddler (usually, though, childcare takes place outside my home).
Q: Can I bring along my husband/boyfriend/best friend?
A: I have a strict No Men Policy during my boudoir sessions, as much for my safety and comfort as for yours. If you'd like to have a girlfriend or female family member along for moral support, that's fine by me, though I encourage you to consider whether this will allow you to truly open up to the camera and get out of your comfort zone. Sometimes having a friend along can actually make you MORE nervous!
Q: Do you shoot nude photographs?
A: I am fine with incorporating tasteful topless images into your session, but I don't photograph fully nude (implied nude I do, however!).
Q: Do you photograph couples together in a boudoir setting?
A: In short, no. My specialty is working one-on-one with other women, and I prefer to stick with what I'm good at and most comfortable with.
Q: How do I prepare for my session?
A: After booking, I will send you over lots of tips, tricks, and guidelines on preparing for your session, as well as a little homework in the form of a questionnaire that helps me get to know you better!
Q: How do you edit your images? Will you fix my problem areas?
A: I take a very natural approach to editing and prefer to alter your images (and YOU!) as little as possible. Most of my edits concern the technical aspects of a photo (exposure, contrast, coloring, etc), however I do make the occasional "tuck" here and there, and I also perform light skin edits as needed (on things like under eye circles, blemishes, and noticeable cellulite). My goal is always to utilize the most flattering light, angles, and poses so that tons of post-processing isn't necessary, and I will also advise you on the most flattering outfits for various body types!
Many boudoir photographers edit their subjects to the point that they are almost unrecognizable, with plastic-y skin, glittering eyes, and not-quite-natural curves. I am committed to capturing who you ARE, not who I think you should be, therefore you will find my edits do not change you, but simply lightly enhance.
Q: How long does it take you to edit a session? What if I'm in a hurry to get the photos back?
A: We typically schedule your Photo Reveal Session for around 2 weeks after your shoot; however, if you're in a hurry, do let me know and if my schedule permits it, I'll expedite the process a little. I do offer a $150 rush option, which ensures your full gallery and Photo Reveal Session in 5-7 days after your shoot.
